Post by roll_cage » Tue Feb 23, 2010 8:24 pm

Hi
I want to get more performance out of my sj and was thinking of putting in a Honda Civic type R engine in as swift gti's are hard to find does anyone know someone who put something likes this in there sj as i noticed that the civic engine is mounted sideway and not long ways like the sj...IS THIS POSSIBLE??

You will have to find a rear wheel drive box that will fit the civi engine... doubt you will find one if im honest.

Then there is the ECU immboiliser ect ect ect not worth the effort if you ask me.

The honda s2000 is rear wheel drive but the engines go for about £3000, and putting that much power in a sj would be outrageous  As soon as the vtec kicked in you would take off
86 SJ413 tin top, 1.6 8v, SU carb, YJ spring conversion, virtual lift, 33x12.5x15 KL71's, rocklobster, rear discs, power steering.

with something like a range rover diesel it will make the zuke way to heavy mate. keep it light!

the best bet is a 1.6vitara engine but if your set on finding something a bit special prepare to open your wallet and raid your piggy bank

cheers
