Re: just bought my first sj samuri :)
yeah that is one thing im certain about that it needs new king pin bearings on both the front and it also needs some new disks on the back. the only problem i have is i do not have the logbook for the car and i dont know how to go about getting one as i dont have any documentation or anything as it has just been used as a farm run around and they saved it from a scrap yard before?

This is the page you need... the V55/5 form. however, if the vehicle has actually been registered as scrapped and has been issued a certificate of destruction Im pretty sure you can't get it back on the road.
If it hasn't been registered as destroyed I think you can get it back on a Q plate, but you would have to have either an SVA or IVA test

Right so basicly I could be stuck with it an not be able to register it on the road?? What what is included on a sva and via test? Hopefully I can get it back on plates, really want to be driving it!

Im assuming you don't know the original registration number? Can't see any number plates on it...
Probably worth calling DVLA on 0300 790 6802 with your VIN number ready
You should be able to get something sorted out as long as it wasn't registered as destroyed at the scrappy. If it has been registered as destroyed a) the scrappy will probably get a massive bollocking and b) you won't be able to get the vehicle back on the road in its current state
The easiest (I say easy but it's not THAT easy) way of getting a "destroyed" zook back on the road would be to buy a chassis (with a v5 or at least it's original plates) from one of the many people that break zooks. You could then transfer your suspension, running gear, body, etc onto it and use the new chassis's reg number.
Cheaper than buying a whole nother truck... can probably get a swb chassis for £50-100

Oh right that's nt too bad then and no I don't know any of the details about the truck. I was talking to my mate today who has known the anus for about 5 years and he said it was running well went the lad I bought it off paid £1500 for it and then it just failed the next mot and went down hill from there. Sorry to be a pain where abouts on a zook would I find the vin number??

There should be a VIN plate down near the drivers right foot... thats where it is on mine anyway
If not I believe it will be stamped onto the chassis inside the driverside front wheel arch

Re: just bought my first sj samuri :)
Started stripping down the zook today and quite happy with the state of it really. Was expecting much worse. The only problem I'm going to find is whether I am able to rivot a 3mm piece of material onto the rear wheel arch as I'm guessing this will fail the mot leaving it with a hole in?
Here's a few pics I took from today.

You might want to take that covering stuff up off the floor, it will trap water under there and I bet you will find more rust!
Can't see the arch...

hmmm yes you might have to do something about that hole!
I think it's quite close to a body mount so may need to be welded?
