2" body lift

Post by PhilD » Tue Sep 16, 2014 6:48 am

I've already fitted a suspension lift kit but it still does not give me enough tyre clearance so I'm going to fit a 2" body lift anyone fitted one and know were I will find the nuts on the car I know the 2 long blots are under the headlights.

Try Dave at bits4vits
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

2 bolts under the headlights (as you have noted)
2 captive bolts at the rear of the front wheel arches
2 captive bolts at the front of the rear wheel arches
2 captive bolts at the rear chassis crossmember (behind the rear bumper).

The ones at the wheel arches are readily visible if you look underneath from the side of the vehicle.

There are a few forum threads out there with install instructions - google it, but use sidekick or tracker instead of Vitara to capture the US ones.

Pico42's explained it well  (Vitara and Grand vitara) , but you know me ;) Diagram time http://www.offroadingpics.co.uk/apps/ph ... =195366045

Not sure if you have to extend the gear lever and/or steering on a 50mm lift, just something else to consider.

I really never thought of that , maybe an angle grinder to the wheel arches is a better option

I'd just do a virtual lift rather than lift the body, much easier and that is exactly what I'll be doing very soon!
If it ticks over...leave it

Bits4vits did them (I did have them on our Vitara until we swapped in the power steering), but I can't see them on his website anymore.

It looks like I'll have to buy a steering column and extend it myself
