rust fixing/findings

Post by Van Dam » Sun Nov 30, 2014 8:34 pm

hi guys
recently bought my sj and i have uncovered more rust every day :poke:
both of the mounts for the body to chassis are ruined one came off when i was removing the awfully done 3 inch body lift

i am not in the know how what so ever
i have found that the whole arch on the left has rusted through leaving a gap about a inch and a half!
to repair the gap i have bought all the components needed to patch with fibre glass and was wondering how this works with mots? what do they check just the mounts or does the arches have to be fixed to a structural standard of any kind?
any tips on the repairs would be great i have no idea how to weld but have a few wheel barrows and will have a welding set up as of mid week time to start learning!
geussing i will need to repair the mounting point on the chassis too as that has wear (pics Below hopefully)

how easiest to post photos struggling!
