I think it sounds like the pressure switch leaking too.

Thanks for the ideas guys, we would like to keep the power steering really and it is leaking from the pressure switch so any ideas why/how we can solve this problem?

Can anybody tell us how the switch operates?as were thinking we could just blank it off as long as this is not going to cause any further issues.

The parts diagram shows it has an O-ring, but this is only available in a complete seal kit.
I'm guessing your have to remove the switch and then find an O-ring to suit (if it's this leaking) or find a suitable plug to use instead of the switch, or a new switch.

You got a link for the complete seal kit? I have a few pumps I wouldn't mind rebuilding as spares, they've been sat on the shelf for a while and the seals have prob dried out.

I don't know if they varied over the years, I only checked a few diagrams.

Darrell.Thanks for all the info,its a big help.Question.If i remove the remains of our brass contact ,the stem of which passes through what looks a red fibre insert,presumably an electrical insulator,and replace it with a small bolt with an o ring under the head,for example,will this keep the oil in without buggering something else up? I would appreciate your thoughts. As far as doing away with the PAS, Ive been driving plant and machinery now for 40 years, Don,t fight with steering wheels any more. Need my hands and arms to work the spanners when we get home after an outing.Thanks and best regards to all of you that responded. Gaz,s dad.

Yes I would think that will be OK. Basically plug if off by whatever means necessary.
I couldn't find what size thread it has, as my air fittings catalogue at work shows you can get plugs/caps for just about any thread. I would assume it has quite a pressure on it when turning.
