Re: New to Suzuki Club UK

HI Guys
Wow, thanx for for the warm welcome
We were very lucky to get hold of our SJ, we bought her from the Suzuki dealers themselves , they had her for 1 year and the original owner had her for 26 years. there is virtually no rust to speak of with 216000km on the clock, helps living in a desert country
The downside is high temperatures ie. possible overheating
We have been prepping her for her first trip.
- New oil all round, oil filter, air filter, petrol filter, spark plugs, dist cap, leaf spring bushes, thermostat, temp sensor, radiator service, new timing belt and t/b tensioner, new fan belt, new tires all round and installing a rev counter.
"Zuki" as she is known, is still in original condition, no mods.
We plan to do a few mods as we go along:
- Rooftop tent - made by Magiolina
- Fridge - National Luna
- Double battery system to run the fridge.
- Extra petrol tank.
- Water tank.
The first major change we want to make is a 5spd gearbox, we are looking for a SJ410 5sp Santana gearbox, fits directly onto the SJ without adapter plates/mods. Only problem is finding one, been looking all over the internet, no luck
Here is a question for you:
I wanted to broaden the stance, but i am not to fond of wheel spacers, then i had the crazy idea of getting SJ413 axel's and steering setup, from what i have read/researched this should work without to much fuss, giving a little broader stance.
Any advice/suggestions?
Thanx again for the warm welcome, its nice to feel part of a group that really appreciates the worlds best 4x4 ever
We are going on a trip on the 26th Aug, to the Ugab river, near the Brandberg, here are the GPS co-ordinates if you guys want to check it out on Google Earth.
20°59'18.92"S
14°30'42.68"E
We will post some photos when we get back.
