hi mate welcome i had the same problem with you when i had my diesel engine. however that has long gone and i have a 8v vitara engine. Your best bet is to either get a boat tank , or get a custom ali tank , in the end i got a custom ali tank made up and i never get any problems with it
also in my rear of my truck i have made a somesort of dividing/fire walls to keep it away from the two front seats.

I am sorting them out best I can rolled some stainless steel 20x3 flat bar to the same profile as the car arches and am bolting this to them as they are only a very think rubber should make them stiffer I hope sorting out some welding where the cab meets the subframe I think it is. It's under the drivers seat had to plasma cut the the seats out as someone had just welded them to the floor
