Re: Smoking outside pubs
I used to smoke.,never officially gave up,just didn't want one one day so I didn't have one and it rolled on from there really. Now I never smoked in restaurants purely so no one else got to smell it. I smoked in pubs though and think the ban in them was a good move . I don't however agree with banning smoking in pub gardens.,its a suicidal idea.!

Re: Smoking outside pubs
I'm a social smoker, as in if I'm offered a cigarette I'll smoke it but I don't buy my own because I don't feel the need.
Smoke has never bothered me but I can appreciate why people object on health grounds to people smoking indoors as it traps the smoke. Banning smoking outdoors is ridiculous. The smoke dissipates quickly even on a still day and if you don't like it, go back inside.
Next they'll be banning heritage railways and classic motoring because some feeble little nugget with asthma coughed. Survival of the fittest

There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: Smoking outside pubs
I think smokers should adopt the idea the French had...ignore it. I went to Corsica recently and every bar and restaurant had Defence de Fumer signs everywhere. Half the people smoked and they even had ashtrays, no one complained or cared either way. (Gallic shrug).
If it ticks over...leave it

Re: Smoking outside pubs
Just my 2pence,before smoking ban pubs were thriving, after there closing them down at an alarming rate, why not just go back to a best side where nobody smoked anyway and a tap side where everybody used to smoke,I'm a heavy smoker and been with our lass 10yrs but I still won't smoke while she's eating or anything, its just about respect and asking the next person,do you mind.they can always say I do,but its up to you to respect them and go outside, its like smoking in front of kids,I hate that but plenty still do it,even knowing the true dangers as we know now.
