Hi gents, just another question as I plan the set up on my intended SJ - on my last 4*4 - (a Mahindra new kid on the Aussie market - good all round vehicle -made by an Indian Tractor company - apparently they made the series one anus and sold it to Chrysler) I had a synthetic winch (great to handle) whats your opinion on the synthetic Verses - steel.
Regards Cass...

There are a few mahindra running round the UK.

I'd go for synthetic. Purely because it saves weight on the SJ.

Synthetic is better for 'hobby' off roaders, if it snaps it falls to the ground, whereas if a steel snaps it twangs, steel is more durable so if your going to be doing a lot of winching and running the cable around and over obstacles it would probably be the better choice, generally speaking if your a 4x4 for fun you don't need to use your winch all that often so synthetics the way to go

Synthetic without a doubt get a quality one ie plasma are good stuff. It also "floats" in water and its so light. Also if it does snap it doesnt go flying threw the air trying to cut you in half. Synthetic all the way.

Hi Gents, I hope all is well.
Been a while but I am back, after looking at a number of Jimnys I am keen on a Samurai. Which I am on the verge of buying.
Suzuki sj 413 long wheel base, Mot till August 14 Tax till 02.14 Only done 38000 miles from new, looks very tidy for the age though has got a hole in the sill on drivers side and is lifted on shackles. With alloy wheels, all terrain tyres and a hard top the asking price is - 1900 quid (1500 with standard steel wheels and tyres). The owner strikes me as a man of integrity. I will be checking the horse over early next week.
From what I have seen on line Samauri's (in reasonable nick) range from 1000 to 2000. What do you seasoned diggers think?.... Regards Cass...
