I do most of my miles in the Yaris, the SJ is my toy. £20 of petrol lasts months - so not me.
Until I think about touring Europe in it, when I come over in a cold sweat...

hahaha
You could take the Yaris touring but every mile I would be thinking:
Why the f**k didn't I bring my SJ??!??!?!?!?!

I often think that when driving anywhere in the Yaris! It's fast, rediculously comfortable and economical, fun when driven fast - but the SJ is...
Well, it's more awesome. Kids go "woah!" when they see it. People smile at me as I drive past. That just doesn't happen in a Yaris. It's just lacking in awesome.

I'm hoping megasquirt will increase economy... but as its an SJ Im not getting my hopes up too much
No matter how far you are driving if you are concerned about fuel economy......don't take an SJ
It's a roadtrip, you are going to spend a lot on fuel...why worry about it

lol my SJ is surprisingly good on fuel, get about 30mpg when cruising
And again, some people don't have the luxury of having more than one vehicle

I only have one vehicle on the road......my SJ
If I wanted an economical car I would buy one, but i don't and i'm not really fussed how much my sj costs to run, I love it and that's all that matters.

Still it wouldn't be as good a road trip not in an SJ... worth the extra fuel by a country mile

On the long haul down to Wagtail and back, I averaged 40 to the gallon, but that was cruising at 50 in 4th gear for over a hundred miles.
I wouldn't say SJs are bad on fuel, but they're not good either. These days less than 20 is bad, more than 45 is good.

My samurai drinks fuel, yet to see what the KJA does to the mile. Not a lot probably. And I don't care.
Even when I went to Wiltshire last year I trailered it on the Navara, at a whopping 25mpg.
Got the i30 for economy, shopping and family trips. Got Suzukis for fun!
I know I don't pay for it but I'm used to looking.on the trip computer at work and getting between 3 and 7mpg
