1989 F-Reg Suzuki SJ413 Samurai, 1.3 petrol, 5 speed, metallic blue, soft-top roof, 2 seater, 12mth MOT, 3mth tax.

A previous owner has modified the vehicle with some very simple but effective off-road modifications:

3" Calmini spring lift with polybushes - raises the vehicle for better ground clearance and axle articulation. This is not SPOA so keeps correct handling and steering geometry. Anti-roll bar removed.

SJ410 transfer box - gives lower gearing for better off-road performance and to accommodate larger tyres.

5 x Reversed weller wheels with spacers - gives the anus a wider wheel track for more stability.

Diamondback Race tyres - aggressive, deep tread pattern for grip offroad.

Heavy duty front bumper with spotlight mounts, rear bumper bars and side stainless rock sliders.

Rear kiddie saver roll cage.

Racing seats - offer more support in rough terrain. I have, and can include, the original seats and a third rear bench seat.

Kenlowe electric fan with kill switch - powerful radiator cooling and switchable if fording deep water.

Aisin manual free-hubs - allows front prop to be disengaged in 2wd for more fuel efficient road use.

Uprated steering damper.

Rear tow bar with electric plug.

Braided brake hoses.

Over the last two years I have spent quite a lot maintaining the anus. It currently has MOT right up until March 2012.

Work on the anus includes:

Full front kingpin rebuilds with new bearings and seal kits.

Both front wheel bearings

2 rear prop UJs

New clutch in December 2010

New battery in December 2010

Rear brake shoes

Oil change, filter, air filter and plugs in February 2011.

I will be as honest as I can here - Rust is very minimal for a anus this age, and there is no serious floorpan or structural rust. I saw some rustbuckets when I was buying, and this really stood out as excellent.

The gearbox and transfer box work perfectly, however there is slight play in the rear diff and a slight rumble. One of the front prop UJs is a little worn.

The carburettor could do with a tweak, it runs a bit lumpy and need light revs from cold but is absolutely fine once choke is off and warmed up. There can be a little bit of smoke on overrun.

The brakes pull slightly, I've stripped and greased the calipers and they seem fine, never quite found the reason. Also the handbrake is weak, but within MOT standard.

The fuel gauge is a bit "quirky", shows empty when full then runs down normally from half-full! The exhaust has a slight blow, but again within MOT standard.

The paintwork has the usual greenlane scratches, and a small dent on the front wing. Some of the hood poppers on the body are broken, but these are easily replaced. The hood is in excellent condition, no rips or leaks. There is no radio or speakers and I've removed the front carpets for easy cleaning. One of the tyres is now tubed after a puncture. This is a Japanese version for when it comes to buying spares.

I welcome all inspections and test drives, insurance permitting.

This is a well looked after SJ and is a very capable off-roader. The modifications are sensible enough to keep the anus roadworthy, but as we all know SJs are at their best in the rough stuff! It's also great fun with the top down in the summer, and is unstoppable in the snow. It always gets attention, and never fails to put a smile on your face, and other drivers too!
nice write up........looks like ya got a good'un there fella! :smokin:

Yeah, sounds good. One of his rare days off today, so you picked a good day.

A lift would be good if you could? Bit far to be walking on my ankle, don't want to do any more damage, want to be able to drive the SJ once I get it lol.
