1991 Santana Samurai
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Ordered new pads for the X-Eng handbrake.
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Just a word of warning, those X-eng handbrakes are a nightmare to get set up right, then when you get it right it gets dirty and eats the pads in a few weeks. They also rattle horribly while you are driving along.
I spent quite a few years with one fitted. I modified it loads to get it to work well, not rattle and not eat pads. Then bent the disc offroad so scrapped it and went back to a tbox drum brake set up, a decision I’ve never regretted.

As ever ScottieJ I will take your constructive comments into consideration as to which path I follow.ScottieJ wrote: ↑Sat Feb 10, 2024 11:23 pmJust a word of warning, those X-eng handbrakes are a nightmare to get set up right, then when you get it right it gets dirty and eats the pads in a few weeks. I have no plans to go offroading.
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Setting up the High Level brake light and the RH Rear Fog Lamp. LH Rear Fog to follow.
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Have to change my idea for rear fog lights as they will exceed the maximum height of 1000mm from the ground.

Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
I think some very delicate work is going to be required to remove the fuel sender unit.
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Certainly feels 'sloppY' around the cable and bar mechanism. See if this can be tightened without causing a problem in operation.
Perhaps ScottieJ could make some comment on this post?
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
Checking wiring colours and location on unit.
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
So packaging opened up to reveal some of the parts necessary.
Re: 1991 Santana Samurai
With the fuel tank out of the way I could access the rear wiring loom, remove the loose tape, plan for splicing in the trailer lights and high level brake light.
