Finally made a start on the axle swap last week. Havent got very far yet as you can see in the pics.
This is how its looking at the moment...
I'm swapping the heavy duty YJ's i'v had on the back for some standard duty YJ's. These should hopfully give a bit more flex.
I also thought id put a bit of paint on the inner wheel arches, as there was a couple of spots of rust coming through. So got the wire brush out and ended up with this

looking forward to seeing the axles on! Man that's a shame you found rust hiding! Always best to get it fixed before it spreads further though.
I might be interested in the HD Yjs if you want to part with them?

I may part with them at some point, just got to see how i get on with these new ones first.
Made a matching hole on the other wheel arch earlier, but its all welded back up now. Just got to splash a bit of paint round and i can get back on with the axles again.

Weekly update time again
. Not got as far as i'd hoped due to some unscedualed welding on the rear arches, but there all sorted now.
This caused alot of head scratching. There wasn't enough room in this hub for the oil seal
. Not sure what had happed to it in its past life but it turned out it was 5mm shorted than it was originally. Luckily i had a couple of spares.
Really like these new bearing lock nuts, much easyer to take on and off.
Rear axle is pretty much done now, just need to make up some new brake pipes.
Its going to be wide!!

I really need to get on with my YJ and FF.
Looking good. Be interesting to see how much extra flex it free up.
