Considering that we are planning on taking the Hannibal trail through the Alps we'll have to find out when it opens, some parts will be impossible to pass if there's still snow.

All I can find is a private trail, you have to join a local club and be escorted through, has anyone contacted them?

Menacing desert terrain with numerous steep, rocky climbs. Large, sharp rocks require tight maneuvering, increasing the likelihood of tire damage. High clearance, skid plates and differential lockers required. No stock vehicles. A complex network of poorly defined roads makes route-finding very difficult, even following a GPS tracklog. Very hot in summer. Carry plenty of water. Never drive this trail alone.

The need for skid plates and diff locks would rule me out. Looking at the altitudes of those passes you would be vulnerable to altitude sickness which could make it unpleasant and a lot trickier.

Tbh I think they make it sound worse than it is, I've read about pretty much standard landy 90s taking that route. Either way I'm sure we could include some good off road routes through the Alps
As for Altitude sickness, 2800m is at the bottom of the scale where its possible so i'm sure we'll be fine

You wont need diff locks, if theres a hard bit just send scottie through first and he can pull everyone else on a rope
