Has anyone replaced their leaf spring bushes without taking the leaf springs out/off ?
Can it be done in situ ?
If so , how/ or whats the best/quick way.
This is my next thing to do on my list.

Small bushes are very simple but the bigger rears can
Be a right git.

Theres a steel sleeve inside and it rusts to the bolt not allowing
The bolt to come out. I usually use a grinder and cut the bolts.

Alot of poly bush kits now have stainless sleeves.

As for doing it in situ, can't see any problems with it.

Id advise silicone grease to assist in fitting the new one and it
Helps prevent squeaking and creaking.

Personally I would probably remove the whole axle with the springs still attached to do all the bushes, then you can just roll the axle out from underneath, swap the bushes and roll it back under.

I was thinking of jacking up, then hold up on axle stands, then loosen bush bolts if possible, support leaf spring at jacking point a little to take strain off spring, then knocking out old bolts and press out old bushes and replace with full set of the orange poly bushes that I have.

What you think ?

As my back and hip is giving me trouble, I want to do it without too much trouble if that's possible.

The tactic is sound. It all depends on how kind the rusting has been.

When I removed my springs 7 out of 8 bolts knocked out easily. Just one required the grinder.

You could be lucky, or it might get to a point you'd wished you hadn't started. Hopefully the former.

Yer 29 years old SJ, not bad condition, but as we all know, nothing is easy really on old motors.
I do hope that I have no problems doing it.
It be at least a month before I try to do it, due to work.

Update ;
I ordered new leaf-springs, new shackles, new bushes, bolts and U-bolts, last month.

Finally its all done.

I got my local garage to do the work for me .
And I didn't have to pay a huge amount for it to be done.
My back and arm just would of caused me more pain.

Next job on my list is to replace the transfer box mounts.

when mine went i bolted through using the biggest washers i could find... and some left over poly bushes

been holding well for a few years now

Yer good idea to use big washers.

I had the same set up as twiss an never had any problems
