hi all newbie here! i have a grinding/ticking sound that appears to come from the passenger side front wheel area of my 94 vit, ive recently noticed that the cv boot is knackered (nearest the hub) after some offroading and suspect the cv joint is on its way out or needs stripping and cleaning etc. does any one know if the cv joints are easy to get out from the hub? should i change them as a pair if required or will just one side be ok ? would be great to have some pics or step by step guide on how to remove the drive shaft etc if anyone has done it before. i have normal car tools and am not scared of getting dirty! cheers . . . . toby

Welcome to the club.
Personally I would replace just the one known to be worn due to crap getting into it.
I haven't changed one so can't advise on the job, but if nobody replies I can upload the relevant pages from the manual. I don't believe it's a difficult job.

passenger side is the easiest side so that's a good start
unbolt the freewheeling hub or fixed hub whatever yours has fitted & get the circlip off the shaft then unbolt the other end of shaft from the diff turn steering to the left & remove the shaft then you can knock the old cv off & fit new 1 if needed
