Image

at the moment its a 1ltr and looking to put a 1.6 vitara engine in when i get the chance. Its hopefully going to take part in the Mongolian rally next year.

also going to be sorting out the suspension as its all over the place at the mo for some reason. will be taking the arches off which are genuine bushwhacker arches which i have the receipt for. for some reason they have been slightly chopped to fit when it says its for the right car on the receipt so bit confused.

Anyway cant wait to look around and start playing

thanks :)

hey, thanks guys, yeah the plan is to drop it back down a bit and put it on At's not these muds and ditch the arches. so if anyone is interested in swapping or buy these for any bits for the conversion that would be cool.

wonder if the other guys are going next year, be good to have some extra people to convoy with.

Nice looking sj, isn't the Mongolian limited to 1000cc tho?

it is loosely limited to 1000cc ranging up to 1.3 - we asked about a 1.6 and they said yes, if we secure a much bigger fund raised for the charity. As im sure some of you know the 1000cc don't have much go compared to say a 1000cc of another car once you've got a decent size tyre on it etc. I drove this one and it would barely do 50mph and we need to cover 20,000 miles total. Would much rather have the 1.6 and not be ragging the shiz out of it to do any decent speed.

or do you guys think that would be a bad idea? do the 1.6 engines have any bad down points? only annoying thing is having to get a 1.3 5 speed box as well as a 1.6 vit engine now.

cheers :)

Hi and welcome.

There aren't really any weak points with the 1.6. Just make sure its well serviced.

You can't beat an SU carb conversion for reliability and ease of repair.

awesome :). the plan is to re build the whole engine on the bench so everything is new, just to give us that confidence that its all done and sound.

Is the Su carb conversion straight forward?

Cheers
