arrgh.. got a sj410 engine in my lj80..
it has no dizzy in it. i was told it could be a jap engine or a spanish one.. how do you tell.please.
the previous owner, before his passing had replaced all the plugs and points and removed the complete dizzy from the engine.... i have been to a local scrappy to find one and they just shake their heads.
can anybody find me..... a dizzy to love. err or an engine code location....please...
would just like to hear it run before the big strip down...

I believe the 413 one goes straight on and then you have electronic ignition.
Probably easier to find too.
I would fit the 413 coil as well.
Just a few wiring modifications to do.
Hopefully somebody who's done this can confirm things.

Near the bellhousing on the passenger side (driver if lhd) it should say f10a.
it will be an f10a as thats the easiest (drops straight in) engine swap, parts are all interchangeable, the f8a is actually almost identical to the f10 apart from some of the internals. Same block and head, just a slightly larger bore and valves on the f10

had no joy finding a dizzy here in france. been to a few 4x4 places who know the car and engine im looking for but cant and wont help with the dizzy unit unless i have a model number...
i have no model number....
anyhow, would be interested in any help sourcing one for the engine along with the coil pack as well.
it would be nice to hear it running and of course take it into the woods....over at the forest in front of the house...
f10 or f13 dizzy and coil pack any draw backs to the electronic ignition???
thanks again readers..

The disadvantage of the electronic ignition from the 413 is that it wont have the correct ignition advance, however neither does a 410 dizzy when the points are worn and the 413 curve is close enough. What octane rating is the fuel that you will be running?

Whereabouts are you in France?
I'm driving to Malta mid-next month and am going to be driving from Calais to Mont Blanc so am covering a lot of France.
Have got 413 dizzies spare, and a coil that might work but not sure.

hi there,
i'll be running it on 95 or 98 petrol.
we are 40 minutes north of Bordeaux, just off the N10.
maybe a bit to far towards the west for your route.
postage is always an option..
would like to go for a 413 dizzy and coil if possible...????

Rhinoman, you mean the vacuum advance?
410 carb is similar to an SU HIF38 so you may be able to use an SU vacuum port spacer to correct this
