diff help

Post by karl_ttae » Sat Dec 22, 2012 4:09 pm

ive recently bought an sj but the bearings in the rear diff are completely knackered. it is fitted with a kam diff lock so i thought i would buy another diff, swap the locker over and done.

well its a 410 on the logbook, and i now have the diff in bits and after reading this thread it would appear i have a 413 diff.

bought a 413 diff and you can see by the eye that it is alot smaller than mine. :er: :er:

What you have bought isn't a 413 diff then ;) I'm pretty sure kam only make a locker for samurai axles, how many teeth are there on the ring and pinion in your original diff?

the ratio worked out to be 3.9 in my original diff. i have had a sammy axle offered up to mine but its around 4 inch's wider than my axle. i phoned the guy and he was adament that it was from a 413

Sounds like yours does have 413 axles then. have you counted the teeth on the new diff? It does sound like you have been sold a 410 diff if so it will have 37 teeth on the ring and 9 on the pinion, this is the only ratio they did for the 410.
