Hi All, Has anyone replaced rear drums with discs, would much prefer discs all round. and if so, how big a job is it.

Rear disc setups are usually done for when solely offroading rather than for every day use,no advantage to be gained really,but if you plan on doing it all the time then it could be a good move.

But as your Vitara is in pretty good nick i would think your main use would be just normal driving.

Thanks for the reply, appreciate the advice. doubt if it will be off roaded, its in fair nick just over 70k on clock, booked in to get shoes n pads and plugs etc. Family have a farm in Northumberland, so every chance to get out in fields, nowt serious though. Have offroaded Mitzi's in past, but wife has put foot down and says that I'm too old too go mudplugging. Once again Cheers for the advice.

I did a rear disc conversion on my SJ, brilliant upgrade when you tend to get as muddy as I do. For the road, I can't see the point as Rick says - it's not really an upgrade to the brakes, it's more of a "crossgrade" to something equivalent that simply doesn't become useless when it fills up with mud.

Bits4vits does conversion kits for Vitaras, whether or not that includes Grand Vitaras, I don't know. Give 'em a call if you're interested.

You're only too old to go mudplugging when you're too old to breathe.

We did on our 1996 Vit. Used a BenT kit together with some Mitsubishi Magna calipers and the discs from the front (replaced those with vented discs).
Pretty easy to do, would be a relatively lazy days work.
