Vauxhall carlton 1.8 gl

Post by andyrew » Tue Jan 12, 2016 6:33 pm

Not a Suzuki I know but it may peak someone's interest.

So I've decided to put my carlton up for sale. Its a very good car its just
To good and it deserves a better home. To me its
A cool car and a very rare one at that but I wanted an old banger that I wouldn't give
A crap about and this ones too good for that. So I find myself wanting to
Keep it as nice as possible and that's not what I wanted.

Since I've had it I've spent about 250 quid on it. With a full fuel tank refurb
And the pump assembly refurbished. New breathers and clips.
I fitted a new centre and back box with all new rubbers clamps and
Gasket. I've got new disks and pads to go on the rear as the originals
Are fairly worn now.

mechanicaly spot on but the car has a ALOT of
Dings , scrapes and imperfections from being an old giffers motor in the past.
Central locking seems to play up sometimes. And the heater seems to
Muck about and let's a musky smell out. Its had a new matrix so I'm
Assuming that someones maybe disturbed something. It something I'd like to
Fix asap. Headliner has sagged. Fuel gauge reads a quarter less than is
In the tank. I learnt this when I took the tank out!

Has a lot of good points tho.

Previous owner had loads done

All fluids changed and full service
Rear springs
Drop links
Tie rods
Steering link
Timing belt and waterpump
New battery
Etc etc a bill for £500+ and then he never drove it :S

No structural rot thes floor and inners are perfect. Rear arches
Are starting to rust and there two small plates been welded on the rear
Legs at some point.

35k miles
D reg and believed to be the only d reg mk2 gl in the uk. Possibly a press car.
About 8mths not

That's pretty cool, probably one of the only ones left because it was lucky enough not to of been hotwired then joyrided to its death in the 90's, stick it on retro rides mate I wouldn't see it hanging around for long on there.
