Closest good ones are over in Hampshire near Petersfield... theres a short one near angmering but its not very good, only worth it if you are going past that way
If you are right up in the north there are some around Leatherhead and Dorking... but they are all rather mild.
Check out Petersfield and Dorking on this map.
Lots of the routes here are incorrect but last time I checked these were open and still signposted as byways.

Don't use that website....it's completely out of date and doesn't list TRO's or VRO's.

Buy or download some OS maps or use http://www.bing.com/mapspreview set to OS maps to find the byways and then check trailwise to see if there are any restrictions on use. it's often best to also check to see if the local council has a list of Traffic Regulation Orders / closures to cross reference. http://www.trailwise.org.uk/gmaps/gmap.htm

This might seem like a lot of hassle but green lanes are at risk of being closed as it is because of people driving where they shouldn't be so it's best to check. You can also end up with a section 59 if caught by the police driving a TRO'd lane or driving off piste.

Yes I only posted the map so he could see the ones I meant.... notice in the post above I commented that the map is mostly useless :P
Just because I know when I left the UK the petersfield and dorking lanes were good :)
