Heyup guys and girls,
New to the Suzuki scene and would love for anyone to give us some information on the SJ410 series.
I absolutely love the look and simple mechanics of the "tintop" SJ410 etc and ive seen one on ebay, they ad says the 4 body outer mounts need replacing/welding.
Is that a big job to do?
Its also a little too far for me to be fair, somewhere in Essex, while im here in Sheffield haha
If anyone knows about the "tintop" SJ410, around 1986 model onwards thats for sale not too far from me, please get in contact, i want a project, just dont want a rusty one, body work as good as i can get but mechanically, such as the engine can be knackered, i intend to put a Vitara 1.6 in it.
If anyone can advise me on the dos and donts that would be great! and what to look for etc.
thanks, and have a great weekend!

Hi, welcome etc!! My only advice would be really try and be patient. The odds of the first one you see being the right or best one are almost nil. I know this because....??
Patience will pay big rewards in terms of the value you get, and if you have looked at a few you'll soon know the good uns. Broadly I reckon get a decent body as the mechanicals are quite basic and lots of used parts around. That tells you something: it's the bodies that tend to terminate SJs.

Welcome to the forum, your request for a tintop without 'much' rust is going to be a near impossible holy grail find, either folks tend to keep them and rarely do come onto the market or if they do they will command top dollar for them.
The combination of a decent body but not worried about the engine could be harder to find,as most folks who look after the body will also have a immaculate engine as well, must admit they are one of my favourite designs as well, dont like vans normally but the SJ one just looks well cool.
When my Vitara V6 finally goes to the great scrap yard in the sky,i will probably get a new Jimny as they are not only very good off road but do have alot of creature comforts that i like.
Good luck in your quest, but be prepared to either wait till one comes long or have a deepish pocket.

Thanks for the help people!
Logically a Jimny is the best way for me to go, but i just love the 80's square styling the SJ has.
I think like people have said it will be me just needing to be patient, i dont have a mega budget, so i am realistic in that i know body will need some attention, just ideally, i want one where at least its not structural.
I will be checking out that link too, thanks!
Thanks again people!, hope to be posting pics or doing a meet sometime in the future soon!
