Jordis 1988 Samurai (Re)Build
Here is my Samurai so far (it's still in the strip down stage so to speak). I just kept hitting it with the hammer and slowly all the loose bits, rust, wings, doors, exhaust etc... just gradually fell off.
I've chopped a hardtop into a pickup, fitted 15x8 chrome wheels and 31" tyres (had to buy them before the cash just dissapeared).
Rear axle has had brakes and bearings done. Currently waiting for funding for a 3" lift and a shed load of sheet metal work.
I got it cheap as it had a severe case of tin worm and the previous owner had started to weld up the sills and rear wings but given up. Im debating whether or not to just chop the whole tub off and fill the back of the cab in with sheet steel. You can't see in the photos but the rear tub on it is like a slice of swiss cheese. The rear arches need chopping back about 5 inches to reach good metal. I figure if I just bin it then its less to damage off road.

Re: Samurai Remodelling
Thanks for that post Henry, those pictures give me some ideas of how mine will look when finished. The image in my head is something similar. Im currently on welding in sum 3" box sections for sills. Saves having to put sills in and sliders. Presuming thats yours in the pictures is it MOT'd and did you have any issues with the body works mod's?

Re: Samurai Remodelling
Hi
Not mine in the picture, but a good friend of mine. Sadly it has now been broken up and sold off. Was a very capable truck in its day.
Mot should not be an issue, presuming that the tires are legally covered, no sharp edges on the "new" body work lights in correct positions ect.
One thing i would say tho is it would obviously effect the insurance.
Funnily enough there is a wire up on another forum with a similar cab to yours... May have a dig and see if i can find it.

Thats the build.
3" box is ok, it will finish level with the body work tho, some prefer a bit of a lip. When i did mine on a previous sj i used 100/100mm and had a nice little lip.

Re: Samurai Remodelling
Thats a good looking build, but I don't think the back half of mine will stay. They took a soft top and "filled it in". I found as I cut the rot out that's all I was left with.
