So after getting 99% done with my blue sj I'm now ready to make my off-road SJ roadworthy and hopefully I might actually use it instead of the blue one.
It might not be to everyone's taste but it has sentimental value to me and I'm trying to keep to its roots but improve its off-road ability and loose the rot which it has plenty of.
I'm using another shell, well bottom half and then extending to roughly 90" wheelbase and making a back that is very similar to sj shape, half cage and 70series Toyota axles

Other than being a dirty diesel i’m looking forward to seeing the build.

Based on the fabrication work on the other SJ i expect this to be just as impressive.

Your right on the dirty diesel, and to anyone who thinks diesel is better it isn't. It's just heavier. Though it does have a lovely bit of turbo chatter on hill climbs.
But thank you for the kind words, this one will go the same but abit less of a show queen finish so I'm not scared to scratch it.

Might be dirty diesel, but 1.9xud is a wonderful bit of kit

Xud is a good engine. Just a weighty one. Can't say it's hindered the off-road performance at all though, just changed the characteristic of an SJ. Not fire in and rev to the moon anymore

Progress is slow at the moment with a house move and unit move but pictures will be coming soon

Well overdue update. So iv finally moved house and out of my unit. The SJ is at a friend's unit and he's helping me get it done, he has alot of experience in off-road car building so progress should start speeding up soon.
At the moment iv stripped the back Toyota axle ready, redesigned the inlet manifold for more bulkhead clearance and pretty much been ordering bits.
It's looking in a sorry state but this will change, it's not going to be as pretty as my blue one as it is primarily for off-road/heavy green lane use but it will still have the same care and attention underneath.

Steady progress but things are coming together. You can see the lines where the axles were originally and how far they have moved.
Also got a really good deal on some new wheels and 33" tyre combo
