Hi there, Im wanting to fit a hidden kill switch to my SJ. Whats the best way to go about it?

If I use that method does the switch have to remain on for the car to run, or can it be a switch that I hold while turning starting the car and then release once its running?

For that kind of immobilizer (it's not a killswitch if it won't kill a running engine) I think you'll want a break in the starter's circuit. I can't really give you any advice as to how to do it, thought I'm interested in fitting something similar to my own vehicle, so I'll be keeping an eye on this myself.

Its what we've got on our work vans, you have to hold the button while you start it then once its running you can release it.
Ive ordered a said button anyway and I'm gonna have a play, then I will do a guide when I figure it out. No doubt there will be much cutting then soldering back together lol.
But I'm going to have my button hidden so its for security

looking at the diagram the wire that is being cut is the main ignition feed to the coil so the switch will need to be turned on all the time the engine is running.
if u want to only have the switch on while starting then you will need to cut the starter solenoid wire but that draws more current so may need a bigger relay/cable etc.

I was thinking about just looping it into the cable from the ignition barrel.
It would be easier to work with as its already inside the car and shouldnt draw that much current?

yep any wire that stops the car starting will do. i would recommend soldering the connections where ever poss. to keep volt drops to a mimimum.
on my anus i've done away with the ignition switch altogether. i run it all through a toggle switch and then power starter through a push button, but have wired the supply feed via a relay that is controlled through 2 switchs that must be set in correct positions b4 it'll go.

I was tempted to do a similar idea, have a whole load of switches so even if someone got the right idea they have to get the right combination lol.
I may still do this in the future, but for now I want a simple easy to do solution to stop someone robbing my suzuki with a screwdriver lol

I would do it as in the guide you guys posted up, with a rocker switch at the back of the glovebox...

My mate bought an SJ with an immobiliser, spent a whole day trying to fix it when he accidentally flipped the switch

Good though, as he found he had an "immobiliser"
