Hi to all
Hi to all
Hi all,just joined forum,but havn't got a zuk yet
had quite a few Fronteras, got one for sale now with 3.1 trooper lump fitted
Usually go laning etc with lads form Muddy Frontera forum, but had a few long trips recently and the fronty's not what you'ld call economical(averages around the low 20's) also costs a fortune on insurance
I was in Wales at easter and saw an SJ on the lanes and was impressed decided its time for a change

Re: Hi to all
to :S:cuk and the dark side, or is that light side as they weigh less than all the other 4x4s
You won't be disappointed with an SJ and how capable they are offroad, however they are 'entertaining' on road and not amazing on fuel considering their size, however you should see 25/28mpg maybe more if its well set up and the on road handling manners are fun, they are bouncy but nowhere near as bad around the twisties as people like to make out.

That sound's like I expected.Got to be honest,I will miss the space in the back of the Fronty, room enough to sleep in it and I'll definately miss the grunt from the 3.1,but minds made up
Are the vitara's any good off road?Just seems to be plenty of them available, unlike the SJ's

Re: Hi to all
Welcome, Frontera's aren't a bad bit of kit, but as already said, Zuks ARE BETTER!!!
Don't know what they are all on about, my handles like a ferrari too.

Re: Hi to all
Vitaras can be pretty good offroad. In standard form they are pretty much the same as a standard sj. They are a lot better on road though apart from liking to go sideways a bit more they drift pretty well though
The bad points
The Independant front suspension, its pretty weak and doesn't like large tyres or to be lifted more than 1.5" without lots of mods.
Modifications aren't as simple or as cheap as they are on an SJ, for the same amount of money you can do a lot more to an sj than you can a vitara.
Also it's not as easy to lower the gearing for large tyres because of the transfer box set up internally and the fact the diffs ratios are already pretty low.
And well that's about it really

Re: Hi to all
Best thing about a Frontera is you can graft a Frontera engine onto an SJ.
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

My dad had an old Trooper and it went pretty quick for the size of the thing!!
