Hello all I'm a new owner of an SJ 413 Samurai.
I also have a WJ anus that I have done a bit of off roading in but found the offroad parts like bumpers are very expensive so I stopped at a 2" lift & AT Tyres. Got the SJ so I could keep my anus in good condition & have a dedicated offroader. I plan on taking the SJ to my local pay & play to see how it does all stock. I live in Newcastle Under Lyme if any on else is anywhere near.

Welcome to Suzuki Club UK! Glad to hear you've got yourself an SJ! :D
Are you planning on having the zook road legal? If not, I'm sure a anus will be able to tow an SJ on a trailer!

Going to mod it but keep it street legal
Need help with mods what's cheapest way to lift will prop shaft be ok over 3" of lift what size tyres with stock & lift.

The cheapest way to lift is using lift shackles... but I will bet that none of our members will tell you to put them on!
They mess up your handling and ruin springs

The best cheap way off getting lift is using add-a-leaf springs.
They are an extra leaf that you put into your spring pack. It's a given that all SJ springs are probably much more flat than they should be, unless new springs have been fitted! Add a leaf will give you roughly 2" of lift.

You can do the whole vehicle for just over £100. If you're interested check out Llama 4x4 on our links page.
Dave from there is the nicest bloke ever so just phone him for a chat. It might take a while to get them from the states though.

If it's still not enough lift, you can add slightly extended shackles (no more than 1" and your springs/steering will be ok)

Just remember if you are lifting, you should also widen to retain stability. Getting some wheel spacers is the cheapest way.
You can either get them new from Bits 4 Vits, or get them from ebay

Well because it's me :mrgreen: and your saying it's just got to be a road legal toy that you can play in and not worry about too much.

I'm gonna ask can you weld? if so pull out the angle grinder and get cutting :mrgreen:,do a virtual lift and don't run any lift,(no shocks, propspacers or longer brakelines needed :thumbup:) just make sure you have some good leaf springs. add some 31x10.50 tyres on 8" wide rims and a rocklobster transfer box off rockwatt (you'll need a 410 and 413 tbox) to lower the gearing and you'll have a bloody capable and pretty reliable little SJ :mrgreen:

That's what I would do if I was to buy another one

this is what mine was like with virtual lift, a 2" spring lift and 33s. 33s brake more stuff than 31s though :lol:

Stock SJs are really good off road actually!
For ages I had mine standard with a set of 195 (regular size) mud tyres on it. It was awesome like that!

The problem arises when you get to some ruts dug by someone with bigger tyres... then you will ground out on your diffs/axles
