Would you guys reccomend wheel spacers to be put on a suz samurai for road use. Obviously this is just for the asthetic but would it have a negative effect on handling?

wheel spacers are a good idea, they increase road stability at speed and make your turning circle smaller,

the negative points come from the bearing life, obviously with the wheel being further away from the bearing there are increased stresses meaning they will probably have to be adjusted/replaced more often.

finally what sort of spacer do you want to use? there are two types, cast and cnc machined, general consensus is the billet ones are best as they are harder and less suceptable to cracking

thus less chance of this happening..

ive got the cast ones and havnt had any problems yet.

<---- if mine can withstand this they will be fine for road use.

its more down to how deep your pocket is rather than which one is better, at the time i had the money so i bought the billet ones, i used them for about a month and removed them!!

when you fit spacers you may have to make the mudgaurds bigger as thewheels will stick further out of your arches.....

going back to the con's and looking at dans picture, you have to understand if you move the wheels further apart you increase the chance of bending an axle, lets face it, it won't happen unless your doing the above...... (glad you didnt do that dan) but for road use they will be fine,

Thanks for the replies fellas. Ya I just keep seeing wheel spacers on ebay for sale and Im tempted to get em and see what she looks like. Still undecided.

Unfortunatly thats not lukes vitara that is 'superzuki' which has sadly been stripped and sold. but Dave the owner and builder of that now runs bits4vits which also does a selection of SJ mods including spacers. If you email him and trade outside of ebay he sometimes takes the price of the ebay listing fee's etc off so they work out abit cheaper! He is a realy nice chap to deal with aswell.

Another thing to note, If your tyres pertrude the arches and PC plod decides to do you for it its 3 points per petruding tyre! which is a little bit extreme but if all four tyres pertrude, wave bye bye to your licence!

or clame your on your way back from green laning an you lost your arch extenshions when out,
they let me on my way. they was more bothered about my mud plate/number plate,

i got my spacers off bits for vits an used them on an off road with no problem.

hmm, dont know if they'd be as enforcing here..bit more rural. I'll definetly have a look at his wears though, sounds ideal. While your here guys, I get a warning light recently when I take a left turn (tilting the car). Any ideas?

what sort of light? if its
(p) its your handbrake switch, if its
(!) you need to top up your break fluid,

the other thing about not using wheel arch extentions if you dont have them you get sh*t up the side of the sj all the time, off road or on,
