Hello,
I recently bought a 'dead' Jimny from a neighbour and have just finished re-building the engine....I have some issues and wondered if any of you guys/gals could help me out?
Thanks.

A bit more information.....
The Jimny is a 1999, G13BB engine with 60k miles on the clock
I have spent the last couple of months stripping the head - which progressed in to a full engine rebuild because the bores were scored and 2 pistons were damaged due to the heat!
The cylinders were honed, 4x new pistons, block skimmed and head skimmed/pressure tested/valves re-seated, all put back together and installed.
The engine started first time which was a relief BUT I am getting a lot of steam coming from the exhaust, I thought initially it may just be residue in the exhaust but I have now ran the engine for approx 30 - 40 minutes (over the space of 3 days) and it is still just as bad. There doesn't appear to be any coolant loss but now and again the CEL light flashes and the engine splutters but continues to run. I have checked the error code - MAP sensor fault - but I don't think that will cause the steam?
Do I have more than 1 fault? Could I have missed something when re-attaching all the hoses / electrical connectors?
I am dreading that the block may be cracked but not picked up during the machining, or possibly a 'faulty' head gasket???
Thanks

As Robbie just said we are mostly SJ owners on here but a few guys do have Jimnys.
Steam from the exhaust does indicate that there could be water getting through into the cylinders, are there and water passages in the inlet manifold on Jimnys? is there a chance the water could be entering the cylinders from a badly sealing gasket there? On SJs it's common for the inlet and carb gaskets to let water in if they don't seal properly.
Does it overheat? might be worth giving it a longer run in one go or taking it for a good drive to see if the steam clears?
