Hello for the first time and advice please

Post by evans797 » Sun Apr 21, 2013 4:52 pm

Just acquired my first Suzuki. It's a 1991 sj413 Samurai LWB. It's a bit of a rusty shed on wheels at the moment but I have plans! I have driven many 4x4's over the years but I am not a mechanic. I would like to locate someone in the Cardiff /South Wales area to 1. Give me an honest appraisal and 2. Get the mechanics and bodywork sorted as I plan to take her to Greece next year where she will live as my transport whilst there. Photo of the Yellow Peril in her current state attached e.g. stuck in low 4wd, terrible sills, nasty oil leaks- but the cigarette lighter works so that's something. All help and advice much appreciated- just don't tell me she's scrap! Thanks.

She looks like she'll clean up alright. You might need a new T-box by the sound of it. Oil leaks are 'normal'. I've been trying to stop mine leaking since day one but so far nothing's worked. Thankfully it's only a small leak.
There's three ways of doing things:

The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Yeah I was thinking it could be the transfer box. The change stick is solid and will not budge, does that sound right? Use to drive a Series 1 years ago and would have to go in reverse a bit every time you went back to 2wd but i think this is more serious!

Is it stuck in 4H or 4L?
