Right im about to fit anus yj springs to my sj but im unsure whether to go SPOA or SPUA. I would rather go SPUA but im unsure if I will have enough clearance between my sump and front diff as its fitted with a 1.6 16v engine. Has anyone ever had this trouble before

SPUA should be fine. Standard YJs give a little lift anyways and i'm fairly sure they sit the axle a bit further forward too.

I run YJs with spua and a 1.6 8v with the vitara sump and have no issues but my engine is raised slightly.

It should be fine but if it does hit the diff you can always fit a 1.3 sump with modded pick up pipe.

I think with spoa with yj's will roll all over the place. Just my opinion.

Thanks thats a bit more reassuring. I suppose I'll just have to see how it looks when I fit them. Im currently running standard sj springs with add a leafs SPOA and ive grown to hate the extremely harsh ride. I am also beginning to hate the massively lifted look, I now much prefer the look of scotties sj looking nice and stable with more than ample flex and clearance. I already have done a virtual lift with extended landrover arches .

Cheers she does flex pretty well on the YJs, think I could get more with longer shocks as well






I think you'll really like the stability of being a bit lower, I don't think I have actually felt like I'm going to tip over yet since fitting the YJs and samurai axles

Thanks for them pics shes looking awesome as usual have you thought of running missing links. I use my sj on the road and am concerned about them opening up round corners perhaps I can make them with removable pins to stop this but still allow them to work off road.

With YJs I really don't think missing links are needed, personally I don't run them just because I think the suspension is more predictable without them.

my shocks have 9.5" travel and I think I could get another 1.5" of extra droop without them fitted.

Right ok what I think I'll do is fit the springs then measure up for shocks to allow for maximum drop also replace the front standard shock towers whilst im there

I also had to raise the rear shock mounts 3" for mine, you could get away with just titling them in but that reduces the damping of the shock. I also mounted my shock to the axle instead of lower U-bolt plate though, reason for this was that when I buy longer shocks I can then mount them on the lower U-bolt plate so that they won't bottom out. I raised the whole rear bed to do this but there are plenty of other ways to do it.
