What about spark. Is yours 6 volt or 12 volt coil. Sometimes the wire wound ballast resistor on the coil pack can go open circuit intermittently if its a 6 volt coil setup and this will stop it from starting. Also make sure the timing is correct if you have been doing distributor things, try rotatin...

Have you swapped out the master cylinder. I want to replace the master cylinder on my SJ40, do you know if you can use a master cylinder which is made for disc brakes on the front and use it on an SJ40 with drums on the front.??

Do you still have 4 wheel drum brakes or have you got disc front end. I have replaced rear shoes and wheel cylinders but still have spongy brakes. Wheel cylinders seem to be the correct ones. There doesnt seem to be a proportioning valve any where, just a brake line splitter straight below the maste...

Don't want to spend too much as it is only a paddock basher. Has anybody ever replaced master cylinder as I think that is all that is left to do, as master cylinder is original could it not be supplying enough fluid pressure even though it does not go to the floor when you hold your foot on the brak...

About half pedal travel and very poor break action even though pedal holds pressure.

Have adjusted all 4 breaks up as much as possible but still lots of pedal travel

I have replaced rear shoes and wheel cylinders. Bled the system many times but still have long break pedal travel and not very good breaking. Vehicle still has 4 wheel drums and original master cylinder. No leaks any where and pedal holds pressure just has lots of travel.???
