Ok so disconnected as said lights are now working normal.
So will i need to rerun the rear fog light wiring??????
Also will I need to sort out oil pressure light????

Only needs linking if it no longer works, give it a try

No it should be fine, just can't think why it has a wire running to it.

The dim-dip unit strikes again. Mine was playing silly games the other day. Then suddenly its fine again.

??? You sure about that Ed mines, I doubt the jap built ones use Santana supplied parts.

I didn't think any Jap built SJs had the dimmer units. I was under the impression that the Santana factory made and fitted them because of some Spanish vehicle requirement.

Still wondering why it has a wire to the oil pressure light

.
The only reason that I can think of is that it only works with the engine running.
IE: normal sidelights with it not running.
Dim headlights when it's running. (still on sidelights)
Any one still using the
dip-
dim unit know ???
I know it doesn't matter a toss, I just like to know how things work

Mines jap and had the dimmer unit fitted. And Darrel I think you are correct about why its wired to the oil pressure switch, it would be the simplest way for the unit to know if the engine is running or not

That might explain why a lot of old american cars in films headlights go off when they stall. The first scene that springs to mind is in 2 Fast 2 Furious when the blue Camaro wipes out. When the engine stops the headlights go with it.
