Mongolian Rally----Shell rebuild of destiny
Mongolian Rally----Shell rebuild of destiny
So finally started to cut and begin to repair and modify the shell for our rally car.
As i was asking people about putting big tyres on and the best option was to do a virtual lift if i was repairing rot anyway, i started to cut parts away and it got worse and worse as you all know.
First had cut both sills out as they were shot only to find bodge after bodge:
that was the best bit of welding ive seen in a while.
Started cutting, and cutting, rear arches gone and inner arches gone as well as sills both gone.
made up new inner arches for the rear:
both need cutting down alot to the width of the tyres, but need welding first.
then had some sills made up and managed to fit one before i ran out of time, just needs trimming at each end and capping:
lots of work to do and im worried about the body mounts, they have rotted away and am wondering how to rebuild the ones behind the seats with sufficient strength.
Cheers

We shell rebuild!
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Thanks dude. Only annoying part is when you are welding clean plate to clean plate its nice and smooth and easy to weld, soon as you wanna weld clean plate onto old zook it starts having a hissy fit.
have started the other side but not happy with the bit i welded onto the sill so will be cutting that off as not done the same on the other side.
Cheers

Awesome work and again that's some lovely welding! We all know that one! Sj bodywork can be a nightmare to weld.
