Re: Is this the right engine?
yes, that engine would work, easiest would be to get the wiring loom and ecu with it, rest should be alright
It's not a question of how much you spend on your suzuki, but when your money will run out

That seems like a lot to pay though...
Are engines all so expensive down under?

Unfortunatly engines down here are rather dear. And only getting worse for those. Is there any other engines that work well?

Ladaman squeezed an M15a engine from an Ignis sport in. But you need an early Jimny gearbox from an M series engined jimny (hardtop), the ECU, immobiliser and maybe even the dash computer. Have a look at his build thread for more info - it seems like a great swap (even better power than the G16), but a lot of work.

Yup, we are lucky to find an unknown condition longblock for less than the equiv of about 200pounds.
Fwb2700.. if your still looking theres a rare 1300 Twincam I just spotted on there, complete loom ECU etc just not assembled $500 ..not much of an upgrade compared to a 1600 tho

Re: Is this the right engine?
those twincams are more of a race engine, they need to rev a lot to perform well, not the greatest choice for an offroader. spud has one in his 413, it runs well, but in my opinion a g16a engine would work better, and parts are cheaper too

I've heard that using the GTI head on the 1.6 block can give you some interesting results...?
Anyone done it?
