Newbie in surrey

Post by work in progress » Wed Jun 02, 2010 7:16 pm

Hey All

Newbie saying hi. Got my sammy a few months back n at 1st glance it looked quite tidy. Albeit a bit tatty. Nothing too obvious from inside. A wknd of gd laning n rattling it a bit, i can now see that all arches are shot. Opps!! Tho floor n Chassis looks ok.
Had it out a few times. Piccadilly wood, burnt clutch out trying to pull two stuck defenders up a hill. Slindon safari, lasted about half hr before 2nd clutch went. Wasnt impressed but obviously my fault. Prob didnt leave enough free play.
Changed kingpins at wknd n cleaned an inch of silt out of the knuckles. I'm guessing off side cv is shot cos of lots of lovely clunking in 4wheel.
Anyways i'll get some pics of the beaut once i've put them on the puter

Looks well mate, very well!

A couple of things i would do next if it where mine.... firstly get rid of the lift shackles, they are nothing but trouble, and source some lifted springs instead.

Seccondly if it where mine i would remove the front bumper... this will increase your approach angle, so you can climb the steep hills!

Other things if not already fitted, good solid recovery points. 8-)

Your not wrong Henry. Fangs are going. Was thinking of spoa but now think i'll go for d-flex shackles, aal or lifted springs n a virtual lift. Probably do all this so as to accomadate 33's in the future but grab some used 31's for rest of this yr.
