Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp
The virtual lift is done...all the tyres clear on full lock and max articulation. A little bit of fibreglassing is needed at the rear to finish it off. The new seats go in tomorrow as will the arches as they arrived today!

Looks good! Those hard plastic fenders will get ripped pretty fast if you are doing hard stuff, from what I have seen.

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp
if them extentions are grp fibre glass be carefull not to damage them on trees as alot of defender drivers bought some on ebay and the slightest knock and they crumbled into dust

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp
Yep fibreglass but a doddle to fix if they get snagged on something. Need to get them fitted but after the VL there is nothing left to attach them to. I think I'll weld some small tabs on the inner wheel arches so I can put the self tapping screws it came with on.

I recall someone filling the flares with expanding foam to help prevent them from shattering on impact - at the very least it keeps all the pieces in place.

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp
The MOT is due in a few days, I see no reason why she would fail but a tidy zook is a lot nicer...so I made a start, cleaned up the rear end and the pick up bed. I have often wondered why the rust I kill comes back and it dawned on me...primer is porous! So everything de-rusted (again), then gloss black and THEN primer!!
Oh and the steering damper arrived..with the spacers the wheel wobble is terrible!
