Very nice! Wish I had a decent workshop so I could do stuff like that!

Re: Mongolian Rally----Shell rebuild of destiny
unfortunately its only borrowed space for this rally, its not my workshop.
welding welding welding, cos i had the shell on its back could not repair the back so that was today mission:
then had to do the inside inner skins behind the seats:
this side was not too bad:
but the other side needed completely redoing which was a pig:
slowly getting there lol

Re: Mongolian Rally----Shell rebuild of destiny
Last year I did some MIG welding for the first time in years and I had no end of problems trying to see what I was doing. I think the problem is the eyes respond differently to the wavelength of green light compare to a mix of light. In the end I found that I could only focus if I took my glasses off, reading glasses might work for others.Anton wrote:Scottie isn't actually the biggest fan of the thing because it doesn't make a very bright arc, and therefore he has trouble seeing the work. He was going to get a prescription welding mask, can't tell you if he did in the end.
I just wish my welds were as good as those above.

Re: Mongolian Rally----Shell rebuild of destiny
I've found having a bright light behind me shining at the area im welding realy improves my vision lots through the mask. Also having a auto tiny mask helps.

My eyesight is better than Scottie's, he's now got prescription glasses just for MIG welding that helps a bit, but I do find it easier to use see with the ARC too.Rhinoman wrote:Last year I did some MIG welding for the first time in years and I had no end of problems trying to see what I was doing. I'm glad it's not just me!
Hell yes. Want those skills, want lots.Rhinoman wrote:I just wish my welds were as good as those above.
I'd have to try that. My best welds with the MIG have always been outside in bright sunshine, so there's something to what you say!gamble63 wrote:I've found having a bright light behind me shining at the area im welding realy improves my vision lots through the mask. I have an auto darkening helmet, so does Scottie. They're awesome, but still the ARC is easier to see.

How do they differ from his normal glasses?Anton wrote: My eyesight is better than Scottie's, he's now got prescription glasses just for MIG welding that helps a bit,
