IT sounds like a starter fault to be honest, try hitting the starter with something heavy just in case the solenoid is stuck or rock it back and forth in say 4th gear then try start it, obviously when it's back in neutral!

I'm pretty sure if it was the immobiliser it would turn over as normal but just not fire.

Worst case scenario is seized engine but that doesn't happen overnight!

Got a mate coming over to hopefully tow it and we'll try and get it running.

I'm thinking along the same lines as the starter.

My key fob is U/S having broken so I only use the key so its never been a problem.

Siezed engine :S :S :S No warning of that prior and the checks I have done dont indicated its siezed.

Will keep you posted.

Thanks everyone for the replies so far. I would still like to know of a good spannerman/woman of this Parish if anyone knows of one.

Siezed engine would be absolute worst case and definitely not an overnight problem unless you ran it with no oil. I'm saying starter motor.

Ok latest status.

Had it towed and it fired up and runs fandabbydoossee. Its definitely the starter. Now all I gotta do is get it fixed.

Are starters easy to do on a GV or should I leave it to the experts?

Easy job, access can be a bit tight though so a few things might need to be removed for access.

Should be easy enough to do as Scottie says! Save some brass and try it yourself

Not sure if I should post this so apologies if I have it wrong and broken a rule or two and mods, if inappropriate please delete.

Made a few phone calls and the price quoted was a staggering £493.20p + a little extra if I wanted them to diagnose the problem to be sure   :S :S

Looks like I'll be turning spanners again. :doublethumbs:

Anyone recommend a parts company to source my replacement please?

Also, is the solenoid separate? If so might change that first.

Thanks fella's

It sounds like the starter,i doubt that it would be the engine seized.

I'm sure you could find a good second hand one for less than 10% of that price!

If you source a starter I'm more than happy to help you fit it if you don't have the confidence to do it yourself, I'm sure you'll be fine though.

I'll check the one I have to see if the solenoid is replaceable.

Dude...I'm sure you have checked this already. All the terminals have been removed, replaced and generally wiggled..??..
