200miles with haf doors Scottie!!! Think Yeoman trumps that though, buying an SJ enroute, driving it to Wales, then doing some kick ass lanes and driving it home!

Re: introducing short zuke
I now haz 1.6 leetaaareezzzz.
I prepped everything to get it sorted in a day. So obviously
Everything went perfectly.
Wrong. . . .
Later big alt doesn't fit with engine mount I bought
Fan belt was then to long for small alt
Black silicone hoses had Been made too short
New complete exhaust from Germany doesn't fit
Got the timing wrong
Gearbox I purchased years ago has a knackered 1st gear actual
Chunks in the drain plug
Clutch cable adjuster seized
New leads didn't fit
Bonnet doesn't close with a webber carb. Slammed bonnet
Down as it's destined for the scrap bin anyway
Was running good enough to get home around midnight.
Needs the carb and timing tweaking and clutch adjusting.
Kept bogging down on hills so I triedto get a good run up to the hill near the workshop. So got the old girl going bout 45-50 ish. . .
BANG!!!!!!
bonnet flips up and takes out the thankfully already cracked. windscreen.
"Ohh blast , what an inconvenience " I exclaimed.

Re: short zook new engine finally
Sounds like a good time was had
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

Re: short zook new engine finally
Funny now but it was my only vehicle to get
Home in.
Going to have a look at lowering the carb. The later
Webber carb kits use a plastic spacer to help clear a larger
Throttle cable turny bit ( can't think of proper name)
The air intake chaffed slightly when the 1.3 was fitted so
With the extra height of the 1.6 it's a no go.

Re: short zook new engine finally
Sounds like an awesome night Andy. Pleased all the planning paid off and it was a smooth and successful engine swap.
I know the feeling of satisfaction we all get from time to time when everything goes so well.
(Too sarcastic?)

Re: short zook new engine finally
Well I've adjusted the bonnet for now.
This involved a large spanner laid on the carb
And an even larger spanner jumping
Up n down on the bonnet.
I've driven it but the carb and timing seem way off and
It only gets going in high revs. So I think a timing light is needed.
Driving my misses Jimny today I asked myself why didn't
I just by one of these??
