stiff springs
stiff springs
hi there. does anyone have any ideas on what i can do with stiff springs?? i have 3" K.A.P springs and Pro comp es1000,s and they are so stiff. by stiff i mean pritty much no flex on and off road. would removing one of the leafs make them softer???

dunno about the kap springs but ive got ironmans and they are rock solid. Ive done about 600 miles on them and they are slowly softening up. Dont think removing a leaf is a good idea. If they are new i would just plough on and see if they soften up a bit.

they shod soften ova time i cheted a bit an parked mine on axel stands over night
an they lossend right up. i did use 2 stands but i only have a pic with one under
use them to get cross axel ie one under the frunt driver an rear pasanger.

even when i drive up a curb with my front wheel the rear wheel sometimes skims the floor. i couldnt dream of gettin my anus 2 flex like that.

agreed, they can take over a year to bed in properly, my 1.5" are still stiff and ive had them coming up to a year, you need to bear in mind with lifted springs they wont flex as well as standard ones just on the basis that they have more leafs and a stronger curve

just give them a bit of time they'll soon soften up!
Urbanzook have you extended the bumpstops on yours because it looks like your over flexing your springs, they shouldn't be able to flex to the point that they reverse, just to the point where they are flat. It will kill your springs super fast if you leave it, obviously you won't get as much flex but whats worse? a loss of flex or springs that flatten out real quick?

Get a few sand bags in the back, the added weight should help soften them up a bit quicker!

you now have me worried as i built my anus my self from new parts an 3 doner cars,
an is cost me more than enough so far last thing i want is to need new springs again,
although it wood be coils this time round.

bump stops are just bits that go on the axle and the chassis, if you look behind your front wheel there will be abit of metal coming from the chassis, all brased up, (if i had a pik i would post) and usualy on the axle there is like a pointy bit of rubber which is the bumpstop its self, they just stop your springs from bending the wrong way. you could get some landrover bumpstops from ebay and attatch them to the chassis part, or if they are abit short get some box section, attatch the landrover bumpstops to that then weld that to the chassis part, shouldnt cost to much, but would definatly be cheaper than sourcing new springs.
