Drum or Disk brakes

Post by tm518 » Mon Nov 16, 2015 10:37 am

Hi everyone

I was looking at the new Vitara and couldn't find any where if it has drum brakes or disk brakes.

Thanks

It will have disc brakes on the front, not sure about the back ones on a new Vitara but either drum or disc on the rear will work fine, why do you ask ??? are you looking at getting a new Vitara.

According to brakes international, the 2006 onwards SX4 has discs all round, and as far as I can tell the new Vitara is an SX4 rebody.

The 2003 onwards Ignis 1.5 has discs all round, 2005 onwards GV has discs all round, the 2006 onwards Swift has discs all round, so the chances are the new Vitara has discs all round.

However, the 2008 on splash and the 1.3 Ignis have drums on the rear.

There's no specific info on the new Vit's brakes. I guess they're too new for Brakes International. And google is not being forthcoming.

Try ringing a suzuki dealership and asking.

According to the below

http://www.netcarshow.com/suzuki/2015-vitara/

It has rear discs.

"The new Vitara has ventilated disc brakes at the front and solid disc brakes at the rear. Weight savings and drag reductions in the calipers help to enable superior braking performance and fuel economy."

As far as I know: it had drums till the outside spare wheel disappeared (2011) It has 4 ventilated disks now for sure. (Look at Youtube, how to change drums on a Vitara)
