Apparently they took a Sidekick/Vitara and an old buggy shell and built that. Its definitely got that Manta Ray look about it but the Ray didn't have the headlights built in - it was probably some obscure US buggy.

It does scream kit car beach buggy, but looking at the lights I'm wondering if the donor buggy wasn't mini based?

The headlights look like they're off a mini to me, although I suppose they could just as easily be veedub bug lights minus the chrome surrounds...?

The front does look a bit "mini" to me (and when I saw that, suddenly it was less ugly and more cute - weird how your affection for one thing can affect your view of another thing, eh?).
