Stolen Vitara Fatboy H reg
Hi really hoping I can get some advice. Until the 30/12/ I was the proud owner of a beautiful h reg Vitara Fatboy White all the original chrome wheels etc She was a hardtop automatic with no rust just a few scratches and scrapes on the bumpers. The insurance company are of the opinion that as there are no hardtop automatic fatboys for sale its because there is no market for them so they won't give me any more than 1200 for it even though I paid 1500. Is there anyone out there who can pls help me to find a replacement. I really loved that car and sadly I've come to accept that I won't get mine back but i really need to find away to make the insurance co to give me enough to replace her.

Hi,
I know that they normally use equivelant vehicles for sale to give a guide price when paying out but I would have thought if there aren't any to use as a guide you would be able to argue that they should pay what you did for it as long as you purchased it relatively recently.
There's some good advice here http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/cars ... e-off.html

Thanks that is what I'm hoping but they're holding fast to 1200 and I couldn't even buy a rusty manual soft top for that :( Guess I'll just keep trying

It's in their interest to settle the claim so just hold out if you can and I imagine they may crumble eventually.

Have you got evidence of the condition that the vehicle was in?
If you can get proof that the vehicles they cite for £1200 are not "like for like" then it will help if you ever have to take this further - something you should be hinting at strongly when you talk to them.
