INDICATOR/HAZARD RELAY - HELP PLEASE!
INDICATOR/HAZARD RELAY - HELP PLEASE!
Hi All:
My indicators/hazards on my 'P' reg Vitara have all but stopped working. Sometimes they will flash once, or maybe a few times but mostly don't work at all. The relay is only a few months old but before I get back to the seller can anyone please tell me if there is a way to test it to make sure it is the relay and not the switch?
Thanks for any help,
Eric

A new relay is a couple of quid, the easiest way to check is to whack a new relay in, I'd say. Or if you know a mate with a Vit, put your relay in his (or his in yours) and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks Anton. The last one cost me 12 quid - didn't want to fork out that much for another if I don't need to .

That's what I got, but I don't know if it'll fit a Vitara. Fit my SJ, works fine. But as I said, you'll probably want to test yours first, because if it's under warranty then you can just get another one.

Check the polarity before ordering......I'm not sure if all Suzukis use the opposite polarity but that one linked is the wrong polarity for mine.Anton wrote:http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/271404234337

Jap and Spanish SJs use the opposite polarity.
I've got a digital one for LED conversions sat here where I duplicated an eBay order I did for someone else with a Jap truck only to find out Spanish fuseboards are the opposite way round and had to order another.

Thanks for your help guys.
Anton and Scottie - both the ones you gave a link to are for LEDs - mine are not.
I need to check all my bulbs and bulb holders and wires etc as I am still not sure if it is the relay or not.
I have noticed that one of the front bulbs is badly corroded so am wondering if that could be anything to do with the problem.

LED relays work with LEDS and normal bulbs.

Re: INDICATOR/HAZARD RELAY - HELP PLEASE!
I'm having problems with the indicator relay.it's a Spanish model and the relay fits into the top of the fuse bank cover. When I bought it the indicator would fail intermittently due to the relay being slightly loose. In the end it failed completely. The new one I bought was fine for a while then started to do the same thing,I've run a bit of solder over the spades but it still loosened up.Anyone know if there is a relay with larger spades available or will I just have to carry on with the cardboard wedge method?
