Obd
Obd
Hi all, I have a 2008 grand vitara x-ec 2.0l petrol and to be fair I havnt had much luck. It seems to like going in the garage a lot. The latest Is the engine light coming on and the fault seems to be an engine fan problem but the garage checked the fans low mid and high via a hand held diagnostic device and the fans reved up fine. They reset it and two days later the lights back on.
Could someone recommend a Bluetooth obd, so I can connect my android device to it. It seems to be a mindfeild of obd devices and knowing my luck I would buy one that wouldn't work on the Suzuki.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Obd
Thank you for the reply.
The garage never gave me the fault code and stupidly I didn't ask. They just said it was a engine fan fault so I'm guessing new fans, but in the test they did the fans reved up nicely.
Do you think any of the cheaper units will work?, the only reason ask is I read a few posts around the net and a few report not all of them work with certain cars.
Thankyou for taking the time to reply.

Assuming that you are in the UK then any EOBD/OBD2 scan tool would get generic data and fault codes from the ECU, however the fan controls and codes need a Suzuki proprietary tool.

Re: Obd
So the obd WiFi box arrived and what a game trying to get it to work. Its up and running and the code is p0480. If I try to rest the Mil it resets then comes straight back on, the Cooling temprature is 89 degrees not sure what temp the fans should kick in at.
Not sure where to start.
The fans start up when the garage had it on there diagnostic device so I'm guessing they work. Not sure if the below helps, it was the web lookup from Torque.
P0480 - Generic
Type Powertrain - Auxiliary Emission Controls - ISO/SAE Controlled
Description
Fan 1 Control Circuit
P0480 - GM
Type Powertrain - Auxiliary Emission Controls - ISO/SAE Controlled
Description
Cooling Fan Relay 1 Control Circuit Conditions
Cause
Key on or engine running, ECT sensor input less than 199°F, then the PCM detected a low voltage condition on the Cooling Fan Relay 1 control terminal, condition met for 5 seconds.
Any help will be much appreciated.
