Thanks sherwood,
well I changed the oil in the transfer box today, the oil wasn't quite as yellow as I first thought (thankfully) but it was terribly dirty as well as the rear diff oil that I also changed.
I remember when I opened the transfer box fill port last weekend, their was a noise of air either entering or escaping as I undind the bolt.
I will take a look at that link now.
Thanks.

Its probably let some crap in and then blocked by the sounds of it. Blocked breathers can cause other seals to fail with pressure build up so its a good idea to keep an eye on them

Thanks twiss, I'll keep an eye on it!
So I changed the oil in the transfer box & rear diff last night and now I can hear a whine that I'm 90% sure was not there before! It sounds to me like its coming from the rear diff but I could be wrong.
I also cannot hear the whining noise until I hit about 45mph and above and then its there whether I'm on the power or off.
