Bowser. LWB J20a + 03-72LE & 33s
Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
Back to work on this one finally
Started work on the bulkhead, I'm gonna run 31s but want enough room for 33s as it's probably going to happen at some point
Ignore the fact the plate doesn't go to the bottom, I'm going to re do the sills, either gonna tuck them like on the blue one or just go box section.
Should get the other side finished off in the week hopefully
Also this is getting the j20 again now, mated to a 2wd x90 gear box that I'm going to modify to move the gear lever and then it should fit the standard transmission tunnel. This bolts straight up to the j20 with a baleno j18 flywheel and has a black diamond clutch fitted. I will also need to make a custom prop to mate it to the tbox.

Sounds like an interesting combo, is the x90 not just a g16 lump?

Not going twin t/box?
Sid James gone but never forgotten
Jimny 1.6 not as good as an SJ but still good

Yeah the G16 has the same bellhousing pattern as the j series engines, however the crank has a different bolt pattern, after a lot of research I found out that the j18 flywheel is physically the same size as the g16 flywheel but obviously has the right bolt pattern for the j20. Finding a j18 flywheel wasn't easy mindandyrew wrote:Sounds like an interesting combo, is the x90 not just a g16 lump?
Nope, that's being kept for something elseROBBIE wrote:Not going twin t/box?

Handy that its basically bolt on rather than loads of machine work being needed.
Im going to guess the 2wd x90 box has a better gear / final drive ratio to go with the j20 lump. Otherwise id have thought using the sami box on an adapter plate would have been the solution.

It's the clutch I was concerned about, a 1.3 clutch probably won't cope with 128ft-lbs I have thought about giving it a go though, I just want a clutch that isn't on or off.
I still have a few mods to make for it to work but they aren't that complicated.....hopefully

It's also going to be a lot cheaper than a dual plate clutch or a paddle clutch when it wears out...

True that, plus you don't loose torque by having to run a light 1.3 flywheel, the weight difference between the 1.3 and 1.6/1.8 flywheel is quite a lot, pretty sure the 2.0 is even heavier.Anton wrote:It's also going to be a lot cheaper than a dual plate clutch or a paddle clutch when it wears out...
Got the over side of the bulkhead sorted, just need to work out what I'm going to do with my sills now
Looks good on 33s don't you think, I won't be running these on it though.
Also started working out how to fit my swift gti seats last night, looks pretty simple tbh.

Re: Lwb daily drive and laner build
I don't want chassis mounted sliders on this one, otherwise i would, I've been thinking either 100x50x3mm box section sills or maybe even making my own new sills out of 2-3mm
