Hi all
Took me SJ for it's test this morning (in Spain) and it passed on everything except the front prop-shaft which I removed weeks ago as it was knackered and causing front wheel shake. I have the new one to put on but hadn't got round to it. Anyone know if removing the front prop would cause a fail in Blighty too? The tester had to confer with a friend before reaching his conclusion and I can't see why that merited a fail. sadly my Spanish isn't good enough to discuss/argue well enough. Just wondering really, as I'm miffed cos I'll have to pay for a re-test when I fit it and take it back!
Spanish MOT test (ITV)
Re: Spanish MOT test (ITV)
I didn't think MOT's in Spain were that in depth? Thought it was just does it stop and do the lights work! haha!
Front Prop being removed would be an advisory here I think, i remember seeing it on my uncles SJ.
Would the prop cause front wheel shake though?

Re: Spanish MOT test (ITV)
They're quite thorough with newer cars, like the UK, they check everything like dash warning lights, fog lights, seatbelt condition, wipers, the lot, as well as all the emissions and brakes, steering et al but they definitely seem to go easier on old bangers like my sj - pressed the fog light button on the dash and I said 'there's no lamp' and he just laughed. And yes a worn prop shaft can cause a wheel wobble - it stopped when I took it off and now I've just fitted the new one it's still stopped :-)

Definetly wouldn't fail for no front prop in the uk as they are rwd on road.
And yes dean it could cause a wobble if there's no free wheeling hubs fitted so it's spinning while in 2wd
